Music Educator:

Sarah T. Tullock is a music educator, composer, poet, clinician, and Kodály practitioner based in Chattanooga, TN. For over a decade, Tullock has served as a Pre-K through Fifth Grade music educator in the Hamilton County School District while also refining her craft as a songwriter, lyricist, and composer. Tullock holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Church Music from Emory & Henry College and a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. During her masters studies, Tullock completed her Kodály certification with wonderful instructors and Colleagues at UTC’s summer Kodály Institute (KIUTC).

Composer:

Tullock’s choral works have been sung all over the United States by choirs of all ages. Tullock was fortunate to study choral arranging with Dr. Roland Carter during her time at UTC. Since that time, Tullock has taken composition lessons with Composers Tim Henson-Hinck and Dr. Jonathan McNair, and twice studied with Alice Parker as a Melodious Accord Fellow. Tullock recently served as Composer in Residence for the Chattanooga Girls Choir, writing original works for their choirs through the spring 2025 season.

Clinician:

Tullock is the 2022 recipient of the Organization of American Kodàly Educators “Outstanding Emerging Educator” award. Every summer, Tullock serves on the faculties of two Kodály Institutes, teaching three levels of choral conducting for UTC’s Kodály Institute as well as three levels of conducting, level three pedagogy, and folk song research for the Carolina Kodály Institute at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Tullock is a widely sought after clinician, offering music education workshops for universities and educational groups on a variety of topics related to Kodály philosophy, pedagogy, community singing, and compositional/creative practice. Tullock facilitates quarterly multi generational SING events locally and is called upon as an honor choir clinician and guest SING leader for other communities.
