Welcome
Sarah T. Tullock is a music educator, poet, composer, and Kodály practitioner living and working near Chattanooga, TN. Ms. Tullock teaches pre k - 5th grade music at Snow Hill Elementary School in the Hamilton County school district. In addition to her work work with children, Ms. Tullock also works with music educators, teaching choral conducting for the Carolina Kodály Institute and the Kodály Institute at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Ms. Tullock has taught Level I pedagogy and materials for KIUTC in the past and continues to teach Level III pedagogy and materials for CKI.
As a clinician, Ms. Tullock facilitates community SING events, honor choirs, and pedagogy and compositional practice workshops. Ms. Tullock received the 2022 Outstanding Emerging Educator award through the Organization of American Kodály Educators, and has presented lectures and facilitated discussions at the local, regional, and national level on topics related to music education, community singing, and creative/compositional practice.
Ms. Tullock studied choral arranging with Dr. Roland Carter during her Masters work at UTC, composition with Dr. Jonathan McNair and Tim Henson-Hinck after her graduate work, and has twice been a Melodious Accord Fellow with Alice Parker. Ms. Tullock composes by commission for choirs of all ages. Her works have been performed by Cantigas Women’s Choir, the East Tennessee Anglican Choir, the Chattanooga Boys Choir, the Chattanooga Girls Choir, the GA District VII middle school honor choir, Hamilton SINGs 5th grade honor choir, the Lawrence University TTBB chamber choir, the McKendree University Chamber Choir, SAU’s I Cantori, and many more.
Tullock holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sacred Music from Emory & Henry College and a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Tennesee at Chattanooga. She received her full Kodály certification from the Kodály Institute at UTC.
